In this episode of The Real Life Show: Living with a Chronic Illness, we ask that you look after yourself this holiday season. Self-care is so important, especially during these chaotic, unusual times and for people with chronic illnesses of course. Say no to the caroling or family get-together if you have to. Don't feel guilty for knowing how many spoons you might have left and not being able to exert your energy because you have to think about caring for yourself. Just remember, you want to say no so you can say yes to something else, even if that something else is yourself; that's okay, too. We also discussed the difficulty of food for some people around the holiday season which is usually associated with mass amounts of meat, carbs, desserts, and leftovers. Lastly, we touch on how to approach the potentially awkward conversations that could arise when a family member or family friend asks how you are doing.
